San Sebastian/Spain: Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence called the Israeli offensive in Gaza a genocide. Speaking at a news conference at Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival on Friday, the Oscar winner said that she is terrified for her own children and “for all our children” for the normalisation of lies in American politics, Agence France-Presse reported.

AFP quoted the actor, "What's happening is no less than a genocide, and it's unacceptable.”

She said, "terrified for my children, for all of our children," and added that "this disrespect and the discourse in American politics right now is going to be normal."

Lawrence is a mother of two children.

The actor warned that politics without any integrity is going to be “totally normal”. She said that politicians lie and they have no empathy.

She also warned that when people ignore what is happening on one side of the world, the same can happen to their side as well.

"Politicians lie, there's no empathy, and everybody needs to remember that when you ignore what's happening on one side of the world, it won't be long until it's on your side as well."

Meanwhile, the Hague Group has urged its member countries to halt dealings with Israel in arms, finance, and energy as part of an effort to isolate the country and deter what it described as genocide in Gaza, and it called on states to shift from rhetoric to action by enforcing international law.

Meeting on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the coalition of more than thirty governments sought to consolidate existing measures into a coordinated strategy, and it emphasised that accountability must be pursued through courts, ports, contracts, factories, and financial systems.
