While investigating an alleged cryptocurrency scam involving around $100 million, Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sent a note to Binance, a cryptocurrency exchange.

An official from the FIA's cybercrime wing said in a statement quoted by Xinhua that the notice requested Binance Pakistan's general manager and growth analyst to explain the organization's position on the linkage of fraudulent online investment mobile applications with Binance.

To clarify the issue further, Binance's headquarters in the Cayman Islands and its US headquarters have received a questionnaire.

People from all over Pakistan filed complaints with the FIA regarding mobile apps that had stopped working overtime, allegedly defrauded them of billions of rupees, and had stopped working for an extended period of time, the FIA stated.

Based on early findings, each such application had an average of 5,000 customers, with HFC, one of the applications, having a maximum of 30,000 customers, said the statement.
