New Delhi: Payments using UPI ID often get stuck when the internet is down.

You no longer have to worry about having to wait for internet, UPI also allows offline transactions, The Indian Express reported.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which developed Unified Payment Interface (UPI), offers a USSD-based service.

USSD meaning Unstructured Supplementary Service Data is a communication protocol used in GSM networks to relay and receive text-based messages.

It is often used for checking balance or activating any mobile features.

The service, ideal for those in low-connectivity areas, helps you sending money, checking balances, and managing UPI.

Begin with dialing *99# on your registered mobile number and then pick a language as the service is available in 13 languages along with Hindi and English.

Following which, the user is asked to give the IFSC code of their bank in the text field.

Now you have to input ‘option 1 or 2 to link the desired bank account number and set up the process.’

Afterwards, enter you debit card’s last six digits and expiry date to complete verification.

The final step is to enter your UPI PIN to confirm and process the UPI offline transaction.

Dial the *99# from the registered number and follow ithe instructions to disable the UPI offline service.
