Gulf Madhyamam ‘India @ 79’ quiz winners receive awards

Muscat: The winners of the ‘India @ 79’ Freedom Quiz, organized by Gulf Madhyamam in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Muscat as part of India’s 79th Independence Day celebrations, received their prizes at a special ceremony held at the Embassy.

Arav Krishna was named the mega winner. Indian Ambassador to Oman, G.V. Srinivas, presented certificates to all winners. The runner-up is Ayisha Minha and the first runner-up is Roshni Sreejith. The consolation prize recipients are Adon Biju, Afnan Qadiri and Aishwarya Binoy.

The mega winner received a laptop sponsored by Joyalukkas Exchange, presented by General Manager P. Nixon Baby and Assistant General Manager Ansar Shenthar. The runner-up received a Georgia tour package voucher handed over by Travel Diaries Managing Director Sreedhu Nair, while the first runner-up was awarded a gold coin by Beema Insurance Marketing Director Abdullah Al Kharousi.

Consolation prizes were presented by Anish Kumar, Bahar Sales and Marketing Head, Ratheesh Mallia Bahar Brand Manager, Rafa Bin Ashraf Sixar Foods Managing Director and Jenalyn Garcia Mapped Marketing Manager.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Srinivas said such quizzes give students a valuable opportunity to deepen their knowledge of India, adding that cultural expressions like music highlight the beauty of India’s linguistic diversity. His musical performance added color to the event.

Afzal Ahmed, Resident Manager of Gulf Madhyamam, said he was pleased the initiative helped spread knowledge among students and promised an even stronger Freedom Quiz in partnership with the Embassy next year.

This year’s contest received nearly 4,000 entries from readers and Indian school students. The winners were chosen by a draw from participants who submitted correct answers online to questions on India’s freedom struggle, published in Gulf Madhyamam’s print and digital platforms.

The prize-giving ceremony at the Indian Embassy was attended by Education, Culture and Tourism Attaché Pushpender Sakhya, Abeer Hospital Director Mohammed Hashim, Gulf Madhyamam Marketing Manager Shaiju Salahuddin, Marketing Executive Nihal Shajahan, Circulation Coordinator Mohammed Nawas, Executive Committee members Fazal Rahman, K.V. Ummar, Mohammed Safeer Purayil, as well as parents of the winners and other invitees.
