Saudi Arabia urges diplomatic path for India-Pakistan dispute
text_fieldsSaudi Arabia has expressed deep concern over rising tensions between India and Pakistan following a deadly attack in India-administered Kashmir. The Saudi Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter), called on both nations to pursue diplomatic avenues to resolve their differences and avoid further escalation.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its concern regarding the escalating tension between the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the ministry stated. It urged both sides to “reduce tensions and resolve disputes through diplomatic means.”
The Saudi appeal follows a surge in cross-border tensions after 26 people were killed in an attack near Pahalgam, a resort town in Kashmir. India has blamed the assault on militants with Pakistani links, identifying two of the attackers as Pakistani nationals. In response, Pakistan claimed it possesses “credible intelligence” suggesting India may be planning military action.
Saudi Arabia’s call stresses growing international concern over the potential for conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours, urging restraint and renewed focus on dialogue.
