Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted a series of raids across Jharkhand as part of its probe into an alleged money laundering network tied to illegal sand mining, extortion, and land grabbing.

The investigation centers on former state agriculture minister and Congress leader Yogendra Sao and his family members, according to official sources.

At least eight locations in Hazaribag and Ranchi were searched early in the day under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), sources said.

The ongoing investigation alleges that significant proceeds of crime were amassed through unlawful activities, including the illegal extraction of sand and coercive practices to seize land and funds.

Sao, who previously served as agriculture minister in the state, had also been questioned by the ED last year in connection with a related money laundering probe involving his daughter, Amba Prasad, a sitting MLA.
