Shikhar Dhawan announces autobiography ‘The One’, promises a candid look
text_fieldsFormer Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has unveiled his debut autobiography, The One, offering fans a deeply personal account of his life both on and off the cricket field.
The announcement was made via an emotional Instagram reel, where Dhawan reflected on the often-overlooked aspects of an athlete’s journey.
"Not every win makes it to the highlights. Not every loss shows on the scoreboard. 'The One' is the story of all the in-betweens. Of learning, unlearning, and showing up, every single time. This one's from the heart," Dhawan wrote in his announcement.
Known for his flair at the crease, trademark moustache twirls, and infectious energy, Dhawan’s book goes beyond statistics and scoreboards. The One explores his early life in Delhi, the ambition that fuelled his rise through the cricketing ranks, and the emotional resilience it took to overcome injuries, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt.
While the autobiography includes highlights of his cricketing achievements—from smashing centuries on debut to becoming a mainstay in India’s white-ball setup—it also dives into the quieter, more reflective chapters of his life: the emotional battles, personal transformations, and his role as a leader.
Earlier this year, Dhawan officially announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket, marking the end of a prolific and impactful career. In his farewell message, he thanked fans and teammates for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
Dhawan leaves behind a rich legacy:
ODIs: 6,793 runs in 167 matches at an average of 44.1, including 17 centuries and 39 fifties.
Tests: 2,315 runs in 34 matches at an average of 40.6, with 7 centuries.
T20Is: 1,759 runs in 68 matches at an average of 27.9, including 11 fifties.
First-Class cricket: 8,499 runs in 122 matches at an average of 44.26, with 25 hundreds.
The One is expected to resonate not only with cricket fans but also with readers seeking inspiration from a story of passion, perseverance, and personal evolution.
