Jammu & Kashmir security forces engage in gunfight with terrorists in Kulgam

Srinagar: A gunfight between terrorists and security forces was reported in the Redwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Officials said police and security forces are on the job.
The fight started after a joint team of police and security forces got information about the presence of terrorists in the area. Forces cordoned off the area terrorists were hiding. Terrorists started firing and forces retaliated.
A soldier was injured and two terrorists managed to escape. A person was trapped after he got injured. Earlier, it is unclear whether it is a terrorist or a civilian. However, it was later confirmed to be a civilian. The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that one Army Jawan and one civilian got injured in the encounter. Search in the area is still going on.
This is among the many encounters to take place in the region over the last few months. Security forces have eliminated many terrorists and their commanders. Most operations have been joint efforts based on specific intelligence inputs.
