Jerusalem: Police and emergency services reported that at least three people were killed by an Arab attacker in Beersheba in southern Israel on Tuesday. The attacker was shot dead, police said.
"It appeared to be a single terrorist who went on a stabbing spree," police spokesman Eli Levy said on Channel 13 TV. "A civilian took the initiative and shot and killed him."
The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported three people were killed and three others wounded, including a woman who was critically wounded.
The assailant was not immediately identified by police, but Israeli media reported that he was an Arab citizen of Israel.
